The record breaking attempt will be held at Pendine Sands on 22nd and 23rd May 2010. On the 22nd we will be going for the World Record of 80.792mph. On 23rd we will be attempting to go flat-out and hopefully get to 100mph.
If the weather forecast for the 23rd does not look good and things are going well on 22nd we may try for the 100mph on 22nd.
On both days, things will start to happen around 2pm and there will be an aerobatics display at 3.00pm. The record attempts will start at 3pm - 4pm on Sunday approx. We will stop activities at 7pm latest on 22nd as we have to clear the beach by 8pm. On 23rd we will stop at 7pm latest or earlier if we have already achieved maximum speed.
So, the big day will be Saturday 22nd - that's probably the day to choose if you can only make one day. Bad weather could of course prevent us from attempting record speeds on either day.
Spectators will be close to the edge of the pits but you will not be able to go into the pits (unless you are a VIP Supporter) or onto the beach except in this designated area. The mower will start the runs from the pits and will build up to speed at about a mile and a half down the beach and then continue further up the beach over the measured mile.
There will be a cafe open by the beach serving teas/coffees, snacks etc to keep you going through the day.
Spectators attend the event at their own risk although the organisers will do their best to ensure that risks are minimised.
